SCHOOLS ARCHERY PROGRAM

The Program

The program is especially for students in years 7-13 at school.

It consists 1.5 hour sessions over six consecutive weeks.  The program teaches students the basic safety and techniques for shooting a recurve bow.

  • Week 1: Safety and the basics of archery. How to shoot a bow correctly.
  • Week 2-5: Technique, learning about scoring and how competitions work.
  • Week 6: Equipment, bow styles and how to get your own gear. A plan to continue with Archery.

All the equipment is supplied for you, including recurve bows, arrows and safety equipment. ​​​​​​​

On successful completion of the course, you may be offered the opportunity to complete an assessment to become a full club member.

Each term there are three classes to select from.

  • Wednesday after school 4pm - 5.30pm *
  • Saturday morning 9am - 10.30am
  • Saturday 10.30am - 12pm

The start date of each class is normally about week 3 each term but will be confirmed once classes are full and closer to the time.

Students will also have the opportunity to compete with other schools nationally through the,  Archery New Zealand (ANZ) Intermediate and Secondary School Shoot Programme.

* During Daylight savings these times may vary slightly due to sun set times.

Cost

The program costs $130 per person for all six weeks.

Payment is required at time of booking to confirm your registration.

The fee includes temporary club membership for the duration of your course to cover equipment and use of the range during your class only. It does not allow you to partake in any other club activities.
