Shooting Rules & Liability Disclaimer For Tauranga Archers (Archery Club)

Tauranga Archers shooting rules are subject to change without notice. Please check with Tauranga Archers committee for the most current rules. The archery range is kindly loaned to Tauranga Archers by the TCC, and all must ensure that we conduct ourselves safely, any abuse could lead the Tauranga Archers being evicted and space for an archery range is in Tauranga is in very short supply. Remember we are on a public green space field and Do Not have exclusive right of the field, so No Abuse to be directed to members of the public, Stop shooting and allow them to pass safely.

In order to ensure your safety and the safety of others on and near the range, please respect the following rules at all times when entering the archery range, please note these rules apply to spectators as well as members.

  • NEVER fire bows without an arrow (dry-fire).
  • No pointing your loaded bow upwards (sky-drawing).
  • No broad heads, Practice field points only.
  • No bows over 60 lb. peak weight (compound)
  • No crossbows, unless they are custom made for target archery and by approval of club committee
  • NEVER aim, shoot at, or point your bow towards another person.
  • Arrows are not to be retrieved until every archer has completed their set and put their bow down and standing 3 meters behind the shooting line
  • Always use the footpaths when entering and exiting the archery range
  • Always check front and behind targets for danger, ie members of the public leaving the footpaths and crossing the range behind and in front of targets
  • Do not jump or climb on targets to reach an arrow. If you can’t reach an arrow ask other member for assistance.
  • The archery range and targets are only for use for fully paid up members of Tauranga Archers.
  • All shooters under the age of 16 should be accompanied by an adult of 18 years or older.
  • Treat all club equipment with respect, damage or misuse to Tauranga Archers equipment may result in withdrawal of club equipment and maybe expelled from Tauranga Archers club with No refund.

Tauranga Archers does not provide liability insurance for the protection of individuals, groups, organisations, businesses, spectators, or others who may participate on the archery range.

In consideration for your membership in Tauranga Archers club, the individual, group, organisation, business, spectator, or other, does hereby release and forever discharge Tauranga Archers and its committee, jointly and severally from any and all actions, causes of actions, claims and demands for, upon or by reason of any damage, loss or injury, which hereafter may be sustained by participating on the archery range

This release extends and applies to, and also covers and includes, all unknown, unforeseen, unanticipated and unsuspected injuries, damages, loss and liability and the consequences thereof, as well as those now disclosed and known to exist. The provisions of any law or providing substance that releases shall not extend to claims, demands, injuries, or damages which are known or unsuspected to exist at this time, to the person executing such release, are hereby expressly waived.

I hereby agree on behalf of my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, to indemnify the Tauranga Archers and its officers, board and committee members, joint and severally from any and all actions, causes of actions, claims and demands for, upon or by reason of any damage, loss or injury, which hereafter may be sustained by participating in the sport of archery

t is further understood and agreed that said participation/membership of Tauranga Archers is not to be construed as an admission of any liability and acceptance of assumption of responsibility by Tauranga Archers, its committee, jointly and severally, for all damages and expenses for which Tauranga Archers, its committee, and employees, become liable as a result of any alleged act of the parade participant.
